Types Of ERP System

TYPES OF ERP SYSTEM -- Enterprise Resource Planning Software can help improve inventory management, accounts payable, manufacturing, human resources, and quality control for your organization. Enterprise resource planning programs have traditionally been used by the big players in the market that have thousands of employees spread out over the world. Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) integrates your business data and processes into a single system that generally includes hardware, software, and process documentation.

There are different types of ERP systems ranging from industry-specific ERP solutions such as those offered by Infor ERP  to web-based, or cloud ERP to small business ERP. However, software developers are now marketing ERP systems to small- and medium-sized companies.

1. Industry Specific ERP

Industry specific ERP are generally for large corporations and are customized to the organization’s exact needs. ERP systems for large corporations are often built from the ground up to suit the organization's specific and unique needs. For a small business like yours, an off-the-shelf model will work fine. Most are grouped into three categories to service manufacturing, finance or logistics based companies.

2. Web-Based ERP or Cloud ERP

Cloud ERP lets businesses pay a subscription for accessing the software and storing data over the internet. The ERP system runs on a remote server, giving your organization anywhere, anytime access from any device with an internet connection while offering an affordable solution to your ERP needs.
ERP programs tend to be complex, requiring high-end computers to run them. However, instead of purchasing the software to run on your computer in your office, many suppliers offer Software as a Service, or SaaS. In this case, you pay a subscription to access the software and your data over the internet.

Web-Based ERP or Cloud ERP ideal for businesses of any size, but best suited to small businesses with smaller budgets.

3. Small Business ERP

As a small business you may not have a need to automate accounting solutions or customer relations management. A scaled-down ERP solution is ideal for small businesses while providing just the functionality you need at a price you can afford. Although ERP systems can cover everything from supply chain management to accounting solutions as well as customer relations management, your business may not need to automate all these functions.

If you need a solution for sales and order management, or human resources, but don’t need a full warehouse management or manufacturing component – ERP for small businesses is an option.
